Cassie Our Daughter & Ziggy the Horse & Honey the... family member? ;)
| Snow Stealer is one of our Horses. He is a Thoroughbred Registered with the Jockey Club in Kentucky. He was born in San Diego County, California in 1993. His nickname is Ziggy, but his mommy...(my wife)... calls him Mutton! ;) Ziggy=s daddy was a famous race horse also foaled in San Diego County. One of the very few to be fortunate enough to make it back east and to Kentucky for Racing. His daddy is Snow Chief. Snow Chief won the 1986 Preakness which is the second leg of the Triple Crown. Ziggy is not used for racing, he is a Hunter Show Horse. He jumps at Hunter Shows with our Daughter Cassie. (See Photo). Ziggy=s first Horse Show was the Panorama Gold Cup in Colville - summer 1997. He won his very first jumping class, and proceeded to win 2 more that show. This year Ziggy will be showing around Spokane with Cassie. We will keep you updated on his progress. | |

Mon Legionaire is Cassie=s Jumper. He is also a Thoroughbred Registered with the Jockey Club in Kentucky. His nickname is Honey. He was born in California in 1984. Honey was a very good race horse and won almost one-hundred thousand dollars on the California Tracks. He became injured with a bowed tendon. They laid him up at a Farm in the Riverside area above San Diego County. This is where we found him. With all the money he had won for his owners they had worried about his future, racing was out of the question now. We could give him the care and home he needed and we purchased him. His tendon was still Hot and Sore, but with a lot of tender loving care and some secrets, we patched him right up and he is a good as new for the type of sports we want to do. His show career has been very extensive from Show Jumper to taking Cassie to Rodeo Royalty. (Read about our Daughter Cassie). He is without a doubt one of the family members and without a doubt >one of the best Horses=, my wife Pamela says, Ashe has ever trained and known@. His heart is as big as the moon.
Cassie, (short for Cassieopia) is our 17 yr old daughter. She is an avid equestrian, and has skills in all types of riding, from Roping, Barrel Racing, Rodeo Royalty, to English Pleasure Saddle Seat, to her very favorite, Show Jumping and Hunters, at which she excels in. Her show career started at 11 mos. old on her Grandma Roxy and Grandpa David=s BLM Mustang, Tracey. She had already been introduced to a Pony that was a gift when she was born, from Nancy Nordstrom at Blue Fox Farms, named Godfrey. Her first show was a Walk/Trot Leadline Class with Tracey though. From then on she rode Godfrey and by the time she was 24 months old, Cassie was the talk of the town. She and that Pony were a major hit in the Walk/Trot Classes all over San Diego County. She won a Championship Division there and a Cooler and Ribbon three times as big as her and the Pony At 26 mos. old she was on KGTV Channel 10 quite a bit, which led to an article in the "Star Magazine" and an Invitation to the "Tonite Show" with Johnny Carson. (Which Mom declined - she was much to young).
Cassie showed and sold Ponies for people over the next few years very successfully. At about 7 yrs. old, she decided that she had enough of showing ponies (Godfrey was gettin= plum wore out), and found Honey. (See Mon Legionaire). He was Mom=s horse. Mom had bought her a very nice Grey Thoroughbred for her to start with. His name was Ghost. Well Ghost was a very nice Hunter, but every time we had a Show she would disappear up to the Jumper arena and watch there. Jumpers are different than Hunters, in that the Jumpers jump higher and give away a lot more money in prizes - which Mom likes. Anyway, the Hunters were a bit boring for Cassie, and that is when she decided to teach Honey, Mom=s horse, to jump. Obviously Honey could do the Jumpers. She sold Ghost for a handsome amount and opened up her own checking account so she could by and sell more Ponies and Horses. She showed Honey that year in the Baby Classes, teaching him. The next year, by the time she turned 8, she was showing on the Grass at Ride America and doing very well. And being very SAFE! That summer she won the Childrens/Adult Amateur Classic at Ride America and won all the money. Her and Honey have done very well the past few years, but with the move up here to Washington, their showing slowed down to a crawl, until the Panorama Gold Cup in Colville - summer of 1997. There she won almost every class she was in, including Mom=s new baby, Ziggy at his first ever Show, but the best was when she and Honey (who is not a Hunter) got 2nd. behind a local trainer, in the Hunter Classic/Sweepstakes, and then turned around an jumped almost 4 foot - in the Gold Cup Mini Prix - and got another 2nd. being the only child rider in it. She was the highest money winning rider at the show that weekend. (again, See Photos above).
Cassie now is in the middle of doing rehab on a lovely TB hunter that had been diagnoised with EPM Disease. (See EPM page). She is also in the middle of breeding and working with the new babies and TB's that have arrived this year. She is hitting the shows here and there, but up here, that is very hard to do. Not many H/J shows in this area. She is a senior in High School now and is a peer tutor working hard with other students, plus getting her senior portfolio done as well. One busy girl ! There have been other shows with win's, and a nice few wins' on Starstruck, aka Titan, (see the fun pictures of Cassie's new projects page). He is a nice guy too..... and is already getting blues.
